How we scored them
Each pair is scored out of 10 on performance, build, value, safety and warranty, with the weights published on our How We Pick page. None of these listings names a safety standard, so safety scores zero for all six.

Scores run from 9.2 to 9.8: each product’s point total is placed on that range, so more points always means a higher score. Safety counts only for powered gear or where the listing states safety features; where it does not apply, the score is taken over the remaining 90 points.
What the listings tell you
We read 14 car ramp listings. All gave a capacity, but in three different ways: per ramp, per pair and GVW. Lift height and incline angle were often missing, and few gave a warranty longer than 90 days.
Buying guide: car ramps
Capacity: per ramp, per pair or GVW
Two ramps carry one axle, so the per-ramp or per-pair rating must exceed that axle’s load. A GVW rating describes the whole vehicle the pair can lift one end of. Compare like with like.
Lift height
6 to 7 in of lift is typical for oil changes. Less than that is a jack helper, not a work platform.
Incline and low cars
Measure your front bumper height and overhang. A 9.5 degree incline clears most low cars; 17 degrees may scrape. Some owners drive onto boards first to lessen the angle.
Using ramps
Use them on hard, flat, level concrete. Drive up slowly in a straight line, set the parking brake, put the transmission in park or gear and chock the wheels still on the ground. Never jack a car while it sits on ramps.
A jack is for lifting, not holding. Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack: set it on rated jack stands, on solid, level ground, at the manufacturer's lift points, chock the wheels, and give the car a firm shake before you go under. Read our Safety Disclaimer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are car ramps safer than jack stands?
Both are safe when rated for the load and used correctly. Ramps spread the load over the tire and are quick; stands let you remove the wheels. Neither replaces the other for every job.
What weight capacity do I need?
Enough for the axle on the ramps with margin. For most cars a 3,250 lb per ramp rating covers it; for 3/4 and 1 ton trucks look for 6,000 lb per ramp.
Will car ramps work for a low car?
Only if the incline clears the bumper. Look for an angle around 10 degrees or less, or use a jack helper ramp to get a floor jack under.
Can I change oil on ramps?
Yes, that is their main use. Chock the rear wheels, and let the oil drain fully before you refit the plug.
Do plastic ramps crack?
Rated plastic ramps are designed for repeated use. Inspect them before each use and replace any that are cracked or deformed.
